Minication Part Two

Friday evening, after Dolly Wood, we drove on to Canton, SC and spent the night.  Saturday morning after a quick breakfast we decided to give Biltmore another stab

I am in LOVE (with Biltmore and Michael).  We had an amazing trip.  We didn't even see everything there.  I was suprised by how much I really liked it.

I loved all the history in the house.

And the gardens....
These pictures don't do it justice!

Oh the gardens....

beautiful.

I'm hoping we'll get to go back soon while the flowers are still in bloom.

Weekend Minication Part One

Michael and I have been planning a few small trips for the last month or so.  But something always seems to come up.  Finally this past weekend we made it out.  And just in time.  I think we both needed a break from the "real world".  And since it was a long weekend for both of us it worked out great!
We left Friday, drove to Pigeon Forge and spent the day at Dolly Wood.  We had a great time together.  We spent the day watching all the shows available.

Happy Easter

We went to Mom and Wendell's for lunch today and took some pictures.
We are so making fun of mom.  She always wants us to stand in front of this tree for pictures.

The girls look like twins...then there's me.

A Simple Thought {from the Song of Solomon}

My pastor was preaching a few weeks ago out of the Song of Solomon.  Every since then I've had this thought on my heart.  He came to this verse where the daughters of Jerusalem ask the young maiden this question:

What is thy beloved more than another beloved, O thou fairest among women? what is thy beloved more than another beloved, that thou dost so charge us?
                               Song of Solomon 5:9

She was living and speaking of her beloved in such a way that the daughters of Jerusalem were asking what made him so special. In relationship to the Christian life that’s how we should be living and speaking. After they asked her this question she didn’t waste the opportunity to tell them about her beloved.

This verse makes me realize how short I fall as to what I should be as a christian.

Etched Glass

I've completed another craft from my someday list.  I did this a few months ago but forgot to post it.  I used my cricut to make a pattern/stencil out of vinyl.  And then used etching cream.  I made this as a gift for a bridal shower.  Along with the tin bucket.

The end is near!!!!

I found this idea on the Second Grade Teachers Club last year.  For the last twenty six days of school we'll do a fun activity focusing on the letter for that day.  Some are as simple as wearing a certain color.  Others are things such as making bubbles and having jump rope competitions.
Our count down starts in just two weeks!    And I can't wait!  For the count down to start that is.  :)  Wanna see what we'll be doing in second grade?  Click the picture of the calendar to find out.

Vocabulary Game--Space Style

I obviously have space on the brain.  I've created a vocab game to use with my reading groups.  We spend an hour a day in reading groups.  I've made several of these games and my kids love them.  I love them also because the kids are learning the vocabulary words.  These cards are the vocabulary words from the last six stories in the Treasures Reading Series (starting with The Moon) although they would be great words for any second grade to know.
