Kendall is 10 Months Old!

Kendall Paige, You are ten months old!

At your check up a few weeks ago, you weighed 18 lbs 5 oz (25-50%), you were 27 3/4 ins long (50%), and your head circumference was 18.3 in (95%).

Your sixth tooth is coming through on the top.  Momma loves your toothy grin!

Just this past week, you started crawling on your hands and knees.  At times you still resort back to your army crawling.

You are a pro at pulling up now.  You think you are big stuff!  You are falling less and less, but when you do you usually conk your head on the floor, owwwie!  You like to pull up on one end of the couch and “walk” down to the other end.

When Momma and Daddy were teenagers, there was a popular slogan “No Fear”.  They wrote that about you!  You are not scared of anything!...diving off the couch, climbing on the bottom ledge of the sofa table, etc. etc.  There may be many ER visits in your future if you keep this up!

One of her favorite books.  Thank you Dolly for the Imagination Library!

For 9 months, you were the BEST sleeper ever.  This month you’ve fought it more with your newly discovered trick of pulling up.  You like to stand up in the crib.  For a few days we’d watch you drift off while standing, with your head laid on the crib railing.  One day you cried for 2 hours while standing and dozing off.  CRAZY!  We have finally started making you lie down, and things are getting a little better.

You are sleeping 12 to 13 hours a night and we have cut back to 2 naps.  Usually you will take a morning nap at 10 and an afternoon nap around 3.  It’s a lot easier to take you out and about now because you are not tired ( & grumpy) as often!

All your clothes sizes are the same.  12 month sleepers, 18 month dresses, size 3 diapers, and size 2 shoes.  Your sleepers are getting a little shorter along with some of your dresses.

You are busy 110% of the time!  And into everything.

You still love to eat!  And we are still slowly introducing table foods.  You typically eat three small meals a day with a few snacks in-between meals.   You also take 3 bottles a day.

Life with you is great, and Momma and Daddy wouldn’t have it any other way!

Over exposed?  Yes, but I still love it, crusty nose and all!

Sidenote:  I guess it was noticed that her 10 month post didn’t go up on Saturday.  Kendall got to go visit (for the first time by herself) her Mimi and Poppy.  Yesterday was crazy busy with Church and play practice.  Today it’s rainy and cold so we had to do an all indoor photo shoot.  Michael is at work, so it was all I could do to get her to smile, look at the camera, and not plunge to her death from her rocking chair. So if it looks like she was shoved back onto the pink bear for sake of snapping a picture she might have been!   Y’all I’m a sweaty mess!  I’m guessing it’s all worth it though, for sake of the memories!

Day 2 Traditions: 12 Days of Christmas Nativity Gift

I thought I'd carry over yesterday's theme of Nativity Sets to today. Let me say, I love love love this idea.  I think it could be a tremendous ministry to witness to neighbors and friends.  This is one of those things I hope to do when Kendall is a little bit older.

The jist is that you buy a nativity set (walmart has relatively inexpensive ones).  Wrap each of 12 pieces separately and give to a neighbor to open one a day until Christmas.  The original sources have free printable poems or bible verses for each piece.  Such as for the star:

The star was hung in Heaven
to announce a royal birth
the Savior of all mankind
had been born upon the earth.

What a witness tool this could be to spread the true meaning of Christmas.

I originally found the idea on pinterest (Imagine that).  Here's the 2 sources:

(Source) and (Source)  .

Disclaimer:  At least one of these websites is a Latter Day Saints Website.   My religious beliefs differ in many ways from the Latter Day Saints.  I would read each poem and verse before using to make sure it is scripturely sound before printing.

Day 1 Traditions: Nativity Set

Welcome to day 1 of my fun series.

Most of my Christmas decorations are "hands off" for the Kendall Girl.  Love her heart, all these fun and shiny new things that she's not allow to touch.

It kind of makes me feel sorry for her!  But this is one Christmas decoration that is meant to be played with.  A Kid friendly nativity set.

    We have this one:

It is the Beginner's Bible Nativity Set.  They can be a bit pricey but what a great way to teach your kid the true story of Christmas. I got ours half price at Hobby Lobby.   Since the pieces are smaller, this is a monitored activity.   I just talk with her about Baby Jesus, and the shepherds, and wise men, etc.   In all reality, I'm starting this super young, and she is obviously not retaining it.  But it's something I've dreamed of doing with my kids for years.  I saw this pin on pinterest the other day:

Hopefully in coming years this nativity set will use this set to retell the birth of Christ.
When I put up my Christmas Decor I'll store these until next year.

I hope you will come back often this month.  I'm excited about this fun series!

P.S.  Just in case anyone is interested (and has A LOT of $), I'd love the Willow Tree Nativity Set for myself.  :)

25 Days of Christmas Traditions Series

I love Christmas!  It's hands down my favorite holiday.  I want my kids to enjoy it as much as I do.  And while we will be doing tons of fun and silly things, I want it to be a time we focus on the Savior!  With this being Kendall's First Christmas, I'm so excited to start family traditions!

Tomorrow I'm starting a fun new series that I'm super excited about!

Everyday (I hope) until Christmas I'll be posting a idea for a tradition I'd like to do in the Jones' household.  Some of them Kendall will not be big enough for just yet.  I'll just mention the idea of something I want to do later on.   If it's something we can do now, I'll include our pictures of it.

Maybe someone else can find inspiration from these posts.  If not, it may just be fun taking a glimpse into our Christmas festivities.

I hope to still post a few posts about our everyday life here and there.  (Like our 10 month post, should go up today, fingers crossed).  This should be my busiest blog month yet :).

One last thing, I'm gonna try super hard not to be guilty of making the holidays too busy.   This one is hard for me.  :)

See you tomorrow!

Life Lately

Things stay so busy around our house, but I wouldn't want it any other way.
  • Kendall had her 9 month appointment on Friday.  She weighs 18 lbs and 5 oz (25-50%).  She is 27 3/4 inches long (50%), and her head circumference is 18.3 inches (95%).

  • I really don't think my child's head looks that big, am I in denial? ...be honest, I can handle it.

  • I have been elbow deep in paper mache rocks for the past few weeks.  And I won't lie, I'm kind of getting over it!  And I think Michael would like the dining room table back.  Hopefully they will turn out ok.  They are the first of many projects for the church's Christmas play.

  • Kendall is on her second cold of the season.  Yuck!

  • I'm really worried about this whole keeping her alive thing.  She has become quite the dare devil since she started pulling up.  She falls several times a day.  Can you say BUSY?
